Ardbeggeddon II - Sunday January 7, 2001

Ok, got an excellent night sleep, up at 6:30 am and at breakfast at 7 am.  We convened at Mr. Lucky's at 10 am to reconvene and plan the day.  By unanimous opinion, we decided to begin immediately.  We returned to the tasting room at 11 am.

Also, this was the day I designated that I would once again try to dram my age (this gets tougher every year and I need to do it while my liver is still young and in top notch shape).  Never achieved this at Ardbeggeddon I - only made it to 36 drams in 14 hours...

Here is a partial list so far today - I began by tasting by finishing off the remaining Springers:

1.  Springbank, PLOWED bottling, 2/67-7/99, 32 yo, 45.8%, MM Cask 175
2.  Springbank, 12/79-5/94, 14 yo, 46%
3.  Springbank, 1967 Sherrywood, 32 yo, Cadenhead's Chairman's Stock
4.  Springbank, 6/72-10/93, 21 yo, 46%
5.  Springbank, 6/93-10/00, 7 yo, 59.9%, SMSW Bottling
6.  Springbank, 12/19/69-9/17/97, 27 yo, Butt #2383, Bottle 21/580, Signatory
7.  Springbank, 1965, 34 yo, Cask MM 580, Sherry Cask, Murray McDavid
8.  Springbank No 3 Bond, bottled in Edinburgh shop on 8/28/00, 58%
9.  Glenfarclas, 1959, 35 yo, Single Barrel - sherry cask, 52.6%, W&W
10.  The Balvenie Classic, 12 yo, 43%
11.  Glengoyne 1968 Vintage Reserve, 50.3%
12.  Glengarioch, 1968, 29 yo, Cask #618, 55.9%
13.  Bunnahabhain, 1969, 25 yo, Sherry Cask, 52.8%, W&W

It's now 5 pm and I'm only up to 13 malts - little chance I'll make my goal of dramming my age today, but check back tomorrow to see how I ended up doing (there WILL be at least an injury level report - the mood in the room is leaning towards total excess...  ;-)

Well, how things change with time...  I MADE IT!  I DRAMMED MY AGE AND LIVED TO TELL THE STORY!

46.  Bowmore 30 yo...

YEE HAR!  Made it!  Drammed my age!  To celebrate this victory and "hammer" it into my feeble memory I consulted with my fellow PLOWEDsters who of course recommended Local Barley as my "over the top" dram.

47.  Local Barley 1966 - lipped directly from the bottle (and photo documented - so they say) in the PLOWED Style pioneered by Sir Dave at Ardbeggeddon I

Life is very good indeed...  Thank you - both the gods of Springbank and the gods of liver protection!!!  I'll post pictures of the victory celebration as soon as they are developed and scanned.

When asked if I plan to do it again at A3, I vehemently said NO!  Once is enough - I need to find a more difficult challenge next...

Sing it loud, sing it PLOWED!
...a very descriptive quote the next day by Sir Dave regarding this accomplishment...
