SCOTCH PARTY VIII
January 23, 1999
4pm to 12:40 am
HOUSE O'TIM
FALMOUTH, MAINE

PARTY THEME: NOW WE CAN PARTY LIKE IT'S 1999!
Yes, we actually had vintage music from Prince on vinyl...
along with a few weird sidetrips like Devo, Zappa and Dire Straits

TASTING THEME:  NEVER HAD THAT BEFORE!
FOOD THEME: ALL CHOLESTEROL, ALL THE TIME!

Pre-tasting offerings from Dave R:

Bowmore 25 yo
Bowmore 21 yo

"Official Tasting Menu"

Glenmorangie Vintage 1971 (Dave R)- (~23 years old and excellent!)
Springbank 21 yo (Dave R)
Longrow 10 yo - 1987, Signatory (Chris & Christian)
Glenrothes 14 yo - 1982 (Tim B)
Dinner: Excellent food - kudos to all the cooks!
Glen Esk 13 yo (Brian)-Cadenheads cask strength
Glentromie 12 yo (Tom)
Royal Lochnagar 12 yo (Paul)
Ardbeg 17 yo (Tim B)
Note: There was an amazing amount of damage to the Ardbeg for such a late adder.

Post-tasting Debauchery

Webmaster's note: The rules in the House o'Tim strongly encourage
that there will always be more than10 bottles but never more than 20 bottles
of single malt open at any one time.

Dallas Dhu 17 yo -- killed in order to open a new:
Ledaig 20 yo, 1974
Auchentoshan 31 year old - 3-wood (WOW - thanks again Dave!)
Darkest Bowmore -- killed in order to open a new:
Longrow 10 yo distillery bottling
Springbank 12 yo (hmmm... I think we broke the rule here by NOT killing one
to properly open this... we must have granted it nonjurisdictional status
because it was only a 375 ml bottle! :)

(and even more I understand... I know we wrote these all down in the
following days but I've lost that summary at the moment. I did crash
on the couch at about 11ish or so - the end of the party is therefore
hearsay.)

Casualties: 1
Injuries:   4

Very little damage to my apartment, especially considering the amount of
liquor consumed. Well, we did break my brand new (for Christmas) BopIt!
A room full of malt overimbibers is apparently more stress than your
typical 10 - 14 year old... WE THRASHED IT!

My landlord (who lives in the apartment above mine) reportedly
came home about 10 minutes after we turned the stereo down so
everything worked out pretty well and I didn't get evicted as I feared...

Slainte!
