ARDBEGGEDDON IX (aka A9)
THE ANNUAL CLAN GATHERING OF THE PLOWED SOCIETY
Las Vegas, Nevada
January 10 - 14, 2008

IT'S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN - WHEN THE RINGLEADERS ASSEMBLE IN LAS VEGAS TO PRAISE THE ORD AND PASS THE DRAMMUNITION!

Unfortunately, although we had a wireless router installed on the high speed network at the Villa in Las Vegas where we held this year's annual PLOWED Clan Gathering, we couldn't figure out how to log into it and we suspect it was malfunctioning.  So another year with no posting from ground zero.  I'm starting to LIKE being able to dram with total abandon and make up stories about what I "remember" happening months later!.

Weight Watchers and Single Malt Whisky

Aside from shifting to a VILLA (did I mention we rented an entire compound where all the Ringleaders were on the same property for the first time? - hope we can get this place again next year for our 10th annual PLOWED Clan Gathering!) the new slant on this year's gathering is that I've been on Weight Watchers for about 26 weeks leading up to this year's event, and I'll be doing my best to count points and try to stay as close to my diet as possible (BWA HAA! HAA!! HAA!!!).  I typically limit myself to about 27 points per day since going on WW and have lost 26 lbs over the past 26 weeks, so this will be the first test of excess and I think I'm easily at risk of gaining a minimum of 10 lbs over the next 4 days...  and this is the primary reason:

Weight Watcher's Points for Alcohol

Weight Watcher's typically provides point estimates for different quantities of different beverages without any standardization between measurements.  For instance, a 4 oz glass of wine is 2 points and hard liquor is typically about 2 points for 1.5 oz.  I've found it much easier to track my WW alcohol points by standardizing the points per oz instead, as follows:

Points / Oz

Type of Alcohol
1.33 Hard Liquor
0.5 Wine
0.25 Microbrew Beer
0.13 Light Beer
0.08 Beck's Light Beer

Ok, we KNOW that the world of Single Malt Whisky is more complicated than shown on this simple overview table, especially since many of our drams are cask strength and I'm pretty sure that the estimate of 1.33 points/oz for hard liquor is assuming bottle strength here (40% is my guess).  I'm doing research to try to develop a new system that estimates points by percentage alcohol instead.  And then there's that pesky PLOWED activity known as DYA.

So, another fascinating alcohol-related topic for the obsessive compulsive PLOWEDsters to disassemble and examine to find the real truth here...  and the results are probably going to be surprising to you since they completely blew me away...  Stay tuned for formalization of the new

PLOWED Society's Weight Watcher Binge Drinking Diet!

Nothing is as it initially appears to be...  except for one constant as always:

Proud to be PLOWED!

Most of the following is simply a placeholder using last year's material for now until we get some new material - A9 in development!

Here's a picture of S'tan holding court at the Villa in the throne room.  Dram in one hand, bottle of Ardbeg in the other with his advisor within close reach.  This was right before he threatened to toss a Borat impersonator into the dungeon to be mercilessly flogged.

Here's some initial material for A9 channeled by your host - Doctor Entropy (photos only for now...)

slainte!
